Ricky Ray Cox, 56, a resident of Webb, Alabama, passed away Friday, November 6, 2015 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center.


Mr. Cox retired from the Houston County School System after twenty six years of faithful service as Custodian of the County Schools and ended his career at Cottonwood High School. He was a deacon and faithful member of First Free Will Baptist Church. Mr. Cox graduated from Headland High School and attended Free Will Baptist Bible College in Nashville, Tennessee.


Mr. Cox is preceded in death by his father, Benjamin Rudolph Cox; his grandmother, Clinoria Woodham; his grandfather, Tom Woodham his sister-in-law, Kathy Voorheis; his mother-in-law, Marian Voorheis; his father-in-law, John Voorheis; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.


Mr. Cox is survived by his wife of thirty four years, Patty Cox; his son Jason (Emily) Cox, two grandchildren, Henry Cox and Hudson Lassiter; his mother, Geraldine (Bill) Boyd; his brother, Ira Cox; and a host of friends and extended family members.


Funeral services will be held in Clearman Chapel at Southern Heritage Funeral Home at 3:00 pm on Monday, November 9, 2015 with Pastors Steve Trail, Jeffrey Pettis, and Larry Sowell presiding. Burial will follow in Crestlawn Cemetery in Cowarts, Alabama.


The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm on Monday, prior to the services.


Pall bearers will be Vince Vickery, Johnny Waters, Zephan Vickery, David Parrish, Bobby Jackson, Carl Floyd and Robert Barefield. Honorary Pall bearers will be Bobby Stone and Eugene Weed.


Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to First Free Will Baptist Church Building Fund, 1461 Timbers Drive, Dothan, Alabama 36301.
