 Obituary: Mr. Robert “Don” Wood 

Mr. Robert “Don” Wood of Slocomb passed away Friday, September 6, 2013 at SAMC. He was 78. 

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 9, at Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Dunn and Rev. Royce Morrow officiating. Burial will follow in Antioch Assembly of God Church Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Slocomb directing. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 until 4 p.m. 

Mr. Wood was born September 22, 1934 in the Bazemore Mill Pond Community of Houston County to the late William and Ressie Lee Harrison Wood. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force in which he faithfully served for over 20 years.  Mr. Wood was employed with Sony until his retirement. 

In addition to his parents, his wife, Shirley Wood and one brother, David Wood preceded him in death. 

Survivors include two daughters: Brenda Knight (Donnie) and Linda Johnson (Wellborn), both of Slocomb; five grandchildren: Ethan, Jake, Josh, Jason and his wife Tina and Pate; six great grandchildren: Teanna, Cameron, Shug, James Austin, Anna Brooke and Paislee; one brother, James Wood, Auburndale, FL; four sisters-in-law: Annie Will Averette, Nell Prevatt, Jean Herman (Steve) and Betty Rolf (Bob); several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
