Mr. Terry McDuffie, age 68, of Samson, passed away Monday, March 16, 2015.  Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Thursday, March 19, 2015 in the Samson First Baptist Church with Rev. Sam Totten and Rev. Larry Murphy officiating.  Burial will follow in Travelers Rest Cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Samson directing.  The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday beginning at 12:30 p.m.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Samson First Baptist Church Building Fund, 100 W. Main St. Samson, AL 36477.

Terry was born in Enterprise on January 26, 1947 to the late Alton and Agnes Redd McDuffie.  He was a longtime member of the Samson First Baptist Church.  He graduated from Samson High School, Class of 1965, where he excelled at sports.  He was in Coach Vince Dooley’s first recruiting class at the University of Georgia.  He was also a part of the 1968 NAIA National Championship Football Team at Troy State University.  He was a successful farmer, having just retired in February of 2014.  Terry was an avid outdoorsman and could typically be found in the woods or on the water with a fishing rod or a shotgun in his hand.  He was preceded in death by his sister, Faye McDuffie. 

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Shirley McDuffie of Samson; two sons, Stan McDuffie (Ashley) of Helena and Ross McDuffie (Sunny) of Samson; two grandchildren, Davis McDuffie of Helena and Brynn McDuffie of Samson; brother, Alton William “Buddy” McDuffie of Samson; and a sister, Ann McDuffie Cannon (Dick) of Shalimar, Fla.
