Mr. Thomas Wayne Rowell of Samson, Alabama passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2016 in Samson, Alabama. 

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 24, 2016 in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home, with the Rev. Phillip Durr officiating.  Burial will follow in the Liberty Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery, with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home Thursday, June 23, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

Mr. Rowell was born January 14, 1946 in Jay, Florida to the late John B. and Voncille White Rowell.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Mr. Rowell retired after a number of years as a truck driver, having owned Rowell Trucking Company.  He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Mr. Rowell served in the United States Army for 4 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 4 brothers; Bill, Bobby, Jim, and Lloyd Rowell.

Survivors include: His wife of 49 years, Shirley Harrison Rowell of Samson, Alabama 2 daughters & son-in-law: Susan Rowell of Samson, Alabama and Kimberly Rowell Smith (Marvin) of Ozark, Alabama.  6 grandchildren: Hillaree Hendrickson (Ed) of Ozark, Alabama, Cory Brooks (Robin), Geneva, Alabama, Tabatha Brooks,  Courtney Brooks (Javi), Enterprise, Alabama, Jessica Smith and Spencer Smith of Ozark, Alabama,  5 great-grandchildren and 1great-grandchild on the way. 2 sisters: Margaret Mason of Opp, Alabama and Evelyn Davis of Colorado. Number of special nieces and nephews.
