Obituary:  Mr. Thomas Winston  Barefoot

 

           

            Mr. Thomas Winston Barefoot of New Brockton, AL passed away Monday, April 15, 2013 at the family residence.  He was 68.

            Funeral Services will be at 2:00 pm Thursday, April 18, 2013 from the Bethany Baptist Church with Dr. Tony Dye officiating. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to service.  Burial will follow in the Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home and Crematory directing.  The family will receive friends at Sorrells Funeral Home in Enterprise on Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 pm.  Flowers will be accepted or contributions made to the Bethany Baptist Church Building Fund or the American Heart Association.

            Mr. Barefoot was born November 1, 1944 in Coffee County, AL to the late Willie T. and Leila Mixon Barefoot.  He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church.  Mr. Barefoot graduated from Troy State University in June 1967 and entered the Navy to serve his country in June 1968.  He attended Naval Post Graduate School from 1971 until 1973. As a ships officer, Mr. Barefoot achieved the rank of Lieutenant prior to his discharge in 1977.  In addition to his parents, a brother Curtis Barefoot preceded him in death.

            Survivors include his wife of 19 ½ years, Mary Smith Barefoot, New Brockton, AL; one step-daughter, Melanie Walsh (Ronny), Dothan, AL; two sisters, Estelle Champion, Greenville, AL, Jennine Caylor, New Brockton, AL; grandchildren: Ashton Walsh, Matthew Walsh, several nieces and nephews.
