Mr. Walter Rex Blount, Sr. passed away Saturday, June 27, 2015 at his home in Dothan.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Monday, June 29, 2015 from the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Slocomb City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 PM until service time, Monday, June 29, 2015 at the funeral home.
Rex was preceded in death by his parents, Walter A. and Vera Mae Blount and his brother, Durward Arnold. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty five years, Sandra Faye Blount; son, Walter (Jill) Rex Blount, Jr; one grandson, Jackson Blount.
Rex spent over forty five years in the banking and finance industry. Prior to his retirement from AB&T he served as president and CEO of several local banks. He helped to establish and open Fort Rucker National Bank and First Bank of Dothan. He was a proud graduate of the School of Banking of The South from Louisiana State University. He not only served the communities he worked in through the banking industry but also through the numerous civic and professional organizations to which he belonged.
He was known for his caring spirit and for being a giving individual. He always cared for and provided for his family. His grandson Jackson was the light of his life.
In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital or the Wiregrass Humane Society.
