Walter Darmond Whitehead, 80 of Cottonwood, Al, husband of Inez Beasley Whitehead, died Thursday, February 14, 2013 at Flowers Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Memorial services will be held  1:00 P.M. Monday, February 18, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Cottonwood with Reverend  Jimmy Bolin and Reverend John Smith Officiating and Southern Heritage Funeral Home directing. The family will be receiving friends at the church immediately following the services. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Cottonwood, P.O. Box 427, Cottonwood, Alabama 36320.

Born in Houston County, Alabama, he was a son of the late Walter and Reecie Webb Whitehead. Darmond owned and operated Central Television Service Company and worked for a number of years with Dothan Livestock and as a security officer for Flowers Hospital prior to his retirement. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and is a member of the First Baptist Church of Cottonwood.      

Surviving in addition to his wife are a son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Cindy Whitehead, Dothan, Al; a brother and sister-in-law, Charles Raymond and Starr Whitehead, Fort Walton Beach, FL; one granddaughter; two step granddaughters; three grandsons; one great granddaughter; two step great grandsons.
