Heaven gained another Angel, William R. “Bill” Mathews, a resident of Dothan, died Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. He was 69.

 

Funeral services for Mr. Mathews will be held at 10 AM Monday October 3, 2016 in Clearman Chapel at Southern Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. Fred Bacher officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3 PM until 5 PM Sunday, October 2, 2016 at the funeral home.

 

Mr. Mathews was born October 21, 1946 in Houston County, Alabama to the late Ralph Louie and Lizzie Merlene Mercer Mathews. He worked for 30 years as a mortgage loan officer and after retirement worked with DSI as a Security Officer.

 

Mr. Mathews is preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Marie Mathews and his parents.

 

Survivors include his son Randy Mathews (Wendi); daughter, Jennifer Anderson (Jason); grandchildren, Blake Austin Mathews, Adam Chantz Mathews and Derek Hayden Anderson; brother, Jimmy Ray Mathews; sisters Mary Brantley (Max) and Sara Deese (Walter).
