Obituary: Mrs. Betty Hilda Blount Carroll

 

 

Mrs. Betty Hilda Blount Carroll of Chuckey, TN, formally of Hartford, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on February 26, 2013 after a long battle with breast cancer. She was 69.

Celebration of Life services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 1, in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home with Dr. Ralph Brannon officiating.  Burial will follow in Hartford City Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be made to the cancer center of your choice.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 12:00 noon and will continue until service time.

Betty was born on September 4, 1943 in Columbus, GA, the only child of the late Lee Roy and Cumy Brannon Blount.  In addition to being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt, she was a friend to everyone she encountered. She was of the Baptist faith.

Betty was the loving wife of Ovie Joe Carroll and responsible for giving him the happiest 53 years of his life. Additionally, she was the loving mother of Teresa Betty Carroll Henry and her husband Terry, Ovie Lee Carroll and his wife Hyecha and her beloved son Chadwick Bruce Carroll, who has been with the Lord since January of 2001. She was the proud grandmother of six grandchildren: Jason, Shannon, Jennifer, Christopher, Christian and Brittany, as well as five great grandchildren: Caden, James, Jacob, Lucas, and Ethan. Betty is also survived by several aunts, an uncle, nieces and nephews, and a special cousin.
