 Mrs. Dorothy M. George, age 85, a resident of Dothan, died Tuesday March 21, 2017 at the SAMC after a brief illness.


Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday March 24, 2017 at the Bethlehem Baptist Church (416 Bethlehem Rd.) with Rev. Paul Edenfield officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Kendall Glover directing.


The family will be receiving friends from 1 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. Friday prior to services at Bethlehem Baptist Church.  Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Care Hospice, 1512 W. Main St., Dothan, AL. 36301.


Mrs. George was born on May 24, 1931 in Ponce de Leon, Florida the daughter of Thomas P. Sledge and Mary Lou Ammons Sledge.  She was a graduate of Ponce de Leon High School and was a homemaker for most of her life.  Mrs. George was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.


She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Dick George; a son, James G. Watson.


Survivors include: daughter, Charlotte Gormley (John), Dothan; 2 sons, Tom Watson (Aura), Dothan; Charles Tatom (Jaime), Dadeville, AL.; brother, Earl Sledge, Mobile, AL.; lifelong friend, Francis Roper, Niceville, FL.; 7 grandchildren, Dorothy Cordell, John Watson, Laura Tatom, Zachary Tatom, Kimberly Jenkins, Cody Jenkins, and Monica Watson; 4 great-grandchildren, Chase Cordell, Auramarie Watson, Sophie Jenkins and Miles Everett; several nieces & nephews and several special caregivers.


Pallbearers will be: John Watson, Zachary Tatom, Daniel Cordell and John Gormley.


Glover Funeral Home of Dothan has been entrusted with the arrangements.
