Obituary: Mrs. Edith Moody Hicks

Mrs. Edith Moody Hicks of Dothan went home to be with the Lord Thursday, May 28, 2015 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was 82. 


Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory in Slocomb with Rev. John Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Tabernacle Methodist Church Cemetery. 


The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until service time. 


Edith was born August 28, 1932 in Geneva County to the late John Wesley and Irene Caraway Moody. She was a dedicated servant of Christ who possessed a kind and courageous spirit and had a big heart. She enjoyed spending time with her family whom she loved dearly.  


In addition to her parents, her grandparents: John W.S. and Leola W. Caraway; her son, Ralph Hicks; aunts: Hortense Kinard, Olene Holland and Ruth Williams; and uncle Howard Caraway all preceded her in death.  


Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Bailey Hicks; daughter, Penelope Hicks, grandson, Mark Wisniewski; sister-in-law, Mellie Hicks; several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
