Mrs. Ellen Pate Lewis, age 86, a resident of Dothan, died Wednesday January 14, 2015 at SAMC surrounded by Loved ones. 


Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday January 17, 2015 at the Glover Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lynn Nesbitt officiating and Kendall Glover directing. 


The family will be receiving friends from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Saturday prior to the service at the Glover Funeral Home.  Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3054 McGehee Rd., Montgomery, AL. 36111. 


Mrs. Lewis was born on November 3, 1928 in Gordon the daughter of Willie Britt “Bill” Pate and Bessie Clara Dupree Pate.  She worked as a homemaker for most of her lifetime and was a volunteer in the Dothan City Schools when her children and grandchildren attended.  Mrs. Lewis was a Cottonwood High School Graduate and was of the Methodist faith. 


She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Daniel Milton Lewis; 2 sisters, Minnie Sue Pate, Edna Whitehead, brothers, Hubert Cecil Pate & Willie Horace “Buddy” Pate. 


Survivors include: 2 sons, Daniel Phillip “Danny” Lewis (Lisa), Rehobeth; William Brian Lewis, Dothan; granddaughter, Amber Lewis Szczekot (Michael), Slocomb; 3 step-grandchildren, Lacey Tomberlin, Rehobeth; Andy Tomberlin (Sheena), Dothan;  Nathan Tomberlin (Courtney), Decatur; 6 step great-grandchildren; several nieces & nephews; many special friends.  


Glover Funeral Home of Dothan has been entrusted with the arrangements.
