Ethel Shiver, a resident of Ashford, died Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at the Southeast Alabama Medical Center. She was 93.

 

Graveside services for Mrs. Shiver will be held at 11 AM Friday, May 1, 2015 at Ashford City cemetery with Rev. Ray McKenzie officiating. The family will receive friends thirty minutes prior to the graveside and immediately following the service.

 

Mrs. Shiver was born June 23, 1921 in Houston County to the late Cleveland and Ola Harris Lewis. She was a seamstress at Wex-Tex and worked alongside her husband growing and selling produce. Mrs. Shiver will be remembered as a very good and loving mother who enjoyed sewing and cooking.

 

Mrs. Shiver is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, William Loyd Shiver; son, Jerry Shiver; granddaughter, Julie Pike; grandson, Doug Dismukes; four sisters and six brothers.

 

Mrs. Shiver is survived by two daughters, Vanarie Dismukes, Dothan, Marie and Gary Lawrence, Ashford; five grandchildren, Micah Dismukes, Eric Lawrence, John David Lawrence, Candace Lawrence Stewart, Emily Lawrence Mendheim; 14 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; three sisters, Patsy Pipkin, Enterprise, Diane Wilhite, Texas, Polly Tew, Mississippi; two brothers, Don Lewis, Johnson City, TN and Russell Lewis, Ashford.
