Mrs. Evelyn Pinkerton Ward of Samson, Alabama went home to be with her Lord and Savior Monday, December 8, 2014. She was 93.


Graveside services will be11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 11, 2014, at Piney Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Wesley Spivey and Rev. Chuck Myers officiating and Sorrells Funeral Home and Crematory of Geneva directing.   The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 10, 2014, from 5 until 7 p.m.


The family asked that flowers be omitted and memorial contributions be made to the Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.


Mrs. Ward was born November 26, 1921, in Coffee County, Alabama to the late Jim and Rosie Lee Baxley Pinkerton. After several years of service she retired from the textile industry.  She was a very loving and devoted mother and grandmother.  Mrs. Ward loved her family and always saw to their every need.  Lime Springs United Methodist Church was blessed to have her as a member.


In addition to her parents, her husband, Waylon L. Ward, Sr., her son, Waylon L. Ward, Jr., son-in-law, Earl Pridgen, as well as two brothers, Lorrell and Dewey Pinkerton, and two sisters, Bessie Spicer and Merle Allen, all preceded her in death.


Survivors include one daughter, Linda Sue Ward Pridgen of Samson; one grandson, Chad (Amber) Ward of Madrid; two great-grandchildren, Gavin and Kendra Ward; two sisters-in-law, Malva Pinkerton of Geneva and Delores Pinkerton of Louisville, KY; several special nieces and nephews, other extended family and friends
