Mrs. Gayle Zeigler Carnes, Age 92, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, December 11, 2016.

 

Funeral services for Mrs. Carnes will be held Thursday, December 15, 2016 at 10:30 AM at Ridgecrest Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Sanders officiating. Private family burial will follow in Ashford City cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM until 10:15 AM prior to the services at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ridgecrest Baptist Church Building Fund.

 

Mrs. Carnes was born in Ankeny, Iowa and grew up in Nokomis, Florida. She attended Wheaton College and later entered nursing school where she graduated and began her career as a Registered Nurse. Mrs. Carnes was married for 65 years and dedicated her life to her husband and children. She was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church where she had a meaningful card ministry as part of her Sunday School class and also served in the library and kitchen.

 

Survivors include her husband, Walter Coy “W.C.” Carnes, Jr; daughter, Catheryn Brandon, Ashford; sons, Dann (Rebecca) Carnes, Chapel Hill, NC and Dr. Bob (Mary) Carnes, Dothan; granddaughters, Anna and Ashley; great grandsons, Camden and Robert.
