Mrs. Gloria Joy Moore Stabler, age 88, a resident of Dothan died Tuesday, February 2, 2016 in Jacksonville, Florida after a brief illness.

A memorial service will be celebrated 1pm Saturday, February 13, 2016, at the Episcopal Church of the Nativity with Reverend Peter Wong celebrating, and Kendall Glover directing. Interment will follow at the church. The family will receive friends immediately after in the Parish Hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Outreach Ministry, Episcopal Church of the Nativity, 205 Holly Lane, Dothan, Alabama 36301.

Gloria Stabler was born on January 5, 1928, in Vredenburgh, Alabama, daughter of Cicero C. Moore and Joyce Andress Moore.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Lemuel Clay Stabler, Jr. She was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Nativity where she served as Sunday School Teacher, Vestry Member, Diocesan Standing Committee, President of Diocesan Women’s Commission, and mentor of Education for Ministry, as well as Chairman of the Outreach Ministry.

She graduated from Huntingdon College with a degree in sociology and English, and from Troy University with a M.A. degree in psychology and counseling. She worked for many years as a counselor and Girls’ Group Home Director for Southeast Alabama Youth Services, Heritage House, and the White House.

Survivors include her son, Lemuel Clay Stabler III and his wife Ruthanne, her daughter Joycelyn Stabler-Tippett and her husband Robert, her son Richard Moore Stabler and his wife Beverly, grandchildren Joseph Penn Stabler, Gregory Clay Stabler, Michael Joseph Giardino, Luca Gerard Giardino, Annie Giardino Nettles, Lauren Stabler McClinton, Michael Paul Stabler, great grandchildren Caroline McClinton, Eli Nettles, nephew Newell Moore, and niece Marilyn Moore Folmar.

The family extends special thanks to her beloved friends.
