OBITUARY FROM HOLMAN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATIONS OF OZARK   ~   334‑774‑5348


Mrs. Hedy Gottlieb Owens, 91, of Auburn, Alabama, formerly of Ozark, died Thursday, April 16, 2015. Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Sunday, April 19, 2015, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home and Cremations in Ozark with Reverend Dr. Billy D. Gaither officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Memorial Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ozark Sunday from 1:00 P. M. until service time.  Mrs. Owens was born October 1, 1923 in Munich, Germany to the late Peter and Anna Lammer Gottlieb.  After World War II she married Marvin Albert Owens and moved to the United States at the age of thirty.  They lived in various places while her husband served in the United States Army and in 1962 they made their home in Ozark.  She has been a member of The First United Methodist Church of Ozark since 1969.  She was a volunteer with the American Red Cross for forty years, and a member of the Kolb Chapter of The Eastern Star.  Mrs. Owens was involved with the Relay for Life for many years. She loved her flower garden and crochet was her pastime.  She was totally involved in her family’s well-being.   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Albert Owens in 1993. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law; Cindy and Jim Harris of Auburn; one son, Jimmy Owens of Ozark; one sister, Ruth Arehart of Ozark; one brother, Gerhard Gottlieb of Germany;  one step-daughter, Marrion Beers of Cleveland, Ohio; four grandchildren, Beth Harris, Jenny (Matthew) Mizell, James Marvin Owens, II, Daniel Tinsley Owens; and one great grandchild, Avery Harris.
