Mrs. Ida Mildred Alford Hayes of County Road 16, Samson, Alabama passed away peacefully at her home Tuesday, January 29, 2013.  She was 86.


 


Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Thursday, January 31, in the New Home Baptist Church with Rev. Dicky McAllister officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Geneva directing.  The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday beginning at 2:00 p.m. and continue until service time.


 


In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to New Home Baptist Church, c/o Hilda Wilson, 407 Mixon Miller Road, Samson, AL 36477.


 


Mrs. Hayes was born December 19, 1926, in Geneva County, Alabama to the late Dearon Alton and Annie Mae Henderson Alford.  She was a very active and devoted lifelong member of New Home Baptist Church, along with her husband, Hubert.  She was also a very loving and devoted mother and grandmother.


 


In addition to her parents, her husband Hubert Hayes, as well as four brothers, Bruce, Hubert, Harold and Opal Alford, all preceded her in death.


 


Survivors include four daughters: Marie Casey, Chattanooga, TN, Jeanette (Don) Daniels, Mary (Danny) Stephenson, all of Samson, Faye (Doug) Avant, Kinston; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; special caregiver, Grace Brown, Bellwood; several nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.
