Mrs. Ila Faye Southerland of Newton passed away Monday February 29, 2016 at her home. She was 69. 


Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at Pilgrim Home Baptist Church with Rev. Buddy Hood officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Slocomb directing. 


The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. 


Mrs. Southerland was born December 19, 1946 in Houston County to the late Billy Rex and Louise McKinnon Cumbie. Faye was a member of Pilgrim Home Baptist Church. She worked many years as an RN in ICU with love and passion. She was a loving mother, grandmother and a caring friend. 


In addition to her parents, her husband Eddie Malcom Southerland and two brothers: James Dow Cumbie and Kelvin Cumbie preceded her in death. 


Survivors include two daughters: Dana Lezon (Ed) and Lynn Southerland; three grandchildren: Austin Williamson, Eddie Lezon and Decian O’Neal; two brothers: Benny Cumbie and Tommy Cumbie (Donna); sisters-in-law: Marie Cumbie, MaryAnn Cumbie and Julie Southerland; very special friend, Pat Thomlin; several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
