Mrs. Imogene “Jean” McAllister, age 89 of Dothan passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2015.


 


Born February 2, 1926 in Henry County to the late William Henry Kirkland and Gracie B. Harrison Kirkland, she was employed at General Hospital (now SEAMC) for 15 years as a food service supervisor. She then worked with Home Interior and Gifts as a decorating consultant for 27 years. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, fishing, and floral arranging.


 


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, James Merle McAllister; a sister, Virginia Hodges, brothers, Taylor Kirkland and Charles Kirkland.


 


She is survived by her sons, Russell (Helen) McAllister of Wicksburg and Randall (Sherry) McAllister of South Carolina, eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren, brothers, Johnny (Hazel) Kirkland of Dothan, Thomas W. (Debbie) Kirkland of Headland, Roger Dale (Tami) Kirkland of Headland, sister, Patricia (Roger) Underwood of Birmingham, and a special friend, Ralph Franklin of Dothan; many special nieces and nephews; and a very dear best friend, Sara (Don) Hatcher of Wicksburg.


 


Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, July 3, 2015 from the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Rick Glenn and Reverend Troy Walsingham officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 10 AM until service time, Friday, July 3, 2015 at the funeral home.


 


Active pallbearers will be Brandon Henderson, Jeffery Miller, Martin Kirkland, John Kennamore, Robert Baker, Scott Underwood, Chris Couture, and Don Hatcher. Honorary pallbearers will be dear friends and associates of Back Yard Treasures and Home Interior and Gifts.
