Mrs. Irell Chance Powell of Dothan passed away Monday, February 10, 2014, at the Southeast Alabama Medical Center. She was 81.

 

Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. Thursday, February 13, 2014, at the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Kenneth Brantley officiating. A private burial will follow at Friendship Assembly of God Church Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.

 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 P.M. Wednesday, February 12, 2014. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to one’s favorite charity.

 

Mrs. Powell was a member of First Baptist Church and attended Harvest Church. She enjoyed yard work and loved to travel. She loved her dogs but most of all she loved her family unconditionally.

 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Gus and Lucy Chance, son, Arthur Lee Powell, Jr, twin brother, Donnell Chance and sisters-in-law, Velma Chance and Dottie Chance.

 

Survivors include her husband, Arthur Lee Powell, Sr, sons, Bobby Pope (Debbie), Ronald Powell, Donald Powell, Bard Powell, grandchildren, Chris Pope, Brandon Pope, Samantha Nelson, brothers, Carl Chance (Neva), Raymond Chance (Shirley), sister, Thelma Dukes, sisters-in-law, Mavis Calhoun, Evelyn Cobb (Roy), numerous nieces and nephews and one very special niece, Melissa Gallagher (Brian), and a very special friend, Carrie Cannon.

 

Pallbearers will be Brent Drown, Scot Arnold, Chris Watson, Brandon Pope, Chris Pope, and Bard Powell.
