Obituary:  Mrs. Jeanette Lewis Tanner

 

Mrs. Jeanette Lewis Tanner of Slocomb passed away Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Bonifay Nursing and Rehab Center.  She was 79. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 30, in Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dan Raley officiating.  Burial will follow in Tabernacle United Methodist Church Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday beginning at 10:00 and continuing until service time. 

Mrs. Tanner was born on December 15, 1933 in Geneva County to the late Cleo and Vassie Justice Lewis.  She was a member of First Baptist Church of Slocomb. 

In addition to her parents, one husband, Davie Tanner, two sons: Milan Dewitt Tanton, Jr. and Michael Tanton preceded her in death. 

Survivors include one daughter, Denise Smith (Dennis); two granddaughters: Talisa Hatcher (Jeremy) and Jenny Strickland (Adam); one grandson, Eric Smith (Rachel) of CA; four great grandchildren: Hanna Hatcher, Leah Hatcher, Jaiden Smith and Keira Smith; two sisters: Brenda Stevenson (Allan) and Linda Johnson (Elmer) both of Slocomb; several nieces and nephews and other extended family and friends.
