Mrs. Joan Ann Mitchell, age 82, a resident of Headland died Tuesday, December 09, 2014 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center after a brief illness.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 13, 2014 at the Glover Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Norman Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery (Hwy. 431 North) with Kendall Glover directing.

The family will be receiving friends at Glover Funeral Home on Friday, December 12, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Gentiva Hospice, 2740 Headland Ave. Dothan, AL. 36303.

Mrs. Mitchell was born on June 5, 1932 in Chicago, IL. the daughter of Felix Oczkowski and Louise Migut Oczkowski. She was Foreman/Co-owner with her husband, Doug Mitchell at Mitchell Equipment for 25 years and was a resident of Headland since 1976 moving from Dunedin, FL.  Mrs. Mitchell retired in 2010 from Auto Specialist. She was of the Catholic faith and attended Bethlehem Baptist Church in Headland, AL.

She was preceded in death by parents; husband, A. Douglas Mitchell, Sr.; son A. Douglas Mitchell, Jr., 1 brother; 2 sisters.

Survivors include: 3 daughters, Vickey Polanis, (Russell), New Port Richey, FL., Sandy Henry, (Greg), Spring Hill, FL., Lisa Bedsole, Headland, AL.; 1 son, Jerry Bedsole, (Rebecca), Enterprise, AL.; 6 grandchildren, Jason Noble, Jennifer Alred, Astina Porteus, Colton Bedsole, Amanda Riveria, Genesis Garza; 1 great-grandson, Brayden Noble; sister in law and brother in law, Doris and Gene Curtis, Piedmont, AL.; brother in law and sister in law, Perry and Linda Maddox, Great Falls, MT.; brother in law and sister in law, Jerry and Nancy Maddox, Spring Hill, FL.; several nieces and nephews and a special dog “Ammo”.

Active Pallbearers: Joey Brown, Craig Harper, Doug Enfinger, Kenny Mock, Dan Porteus, and Richard Castro.

Honorary Pallbearers:  Headland Order of Eastern Star, Chapter #422.

Glover Funeral Home of Dothan has been entrusted with the arrangements.
