Mrs. Johnnie Daphne Averett, a resident at Wynnwood Oaks Assisted Living in Enterprise passed away Friday, January 25, 2013. She was 88.


 


Funeral services will be held at 3 P.M. Sunday, January 27, 2013, at the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Freddie Averett officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.


 


The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home from 2 to 3 P.M. Sunday, January 27, 2013. Flowers will be accepted.


 


Mrs. Averett was a member of Trinity Church in Dothan. At the age of 19, she was married to Kenneth A. Averett, Sr. on June 24, 1944, by a great friend, Pastor A.Z. Strozier. Kenneth Sr. died on May 7, 2006. Had he lived until June 24, 2006, they would have been married 63 years. He was a man who loved everyone and helped many people.


 


She was preceded in death by a wonderful husband and father, Kenneth A. Averett, Sr, who went to be with the Lord on May 7, 2006, and three brothers, James E. Chancey, Thomas Chancey, and Terry Wayne Chancey.


 


Survivors include her sons, Kenneth A. Averett, Jr and his wife, Francis Falco-Averett of New York, NY; Richard A. Averett of Dothan; sisters, Myra Joyce Lopez of Level Plains, AL; Patsy Kay Mathews and her husband, Danny of Orlando, FL; Shirley Faye Jones of Level Plains, AL; brother, Bobby S. Chancey and his wife, Margie of Foley, Al; and two grandchildren, Courey Allison Averett, and Angelica Falco.
