Katie Welch Mims, a resident of Dothan, died Sunday, May 18, 2014 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. She was 86.

Graveside services will be held at 2:30 PM Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at Mt. Pleasant Primitive Baptist Church cemetery with Rev. Woody Farrington officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 PM until 2 PM at Southern Heritage prior to the service.

Mrs. Mims was born August 16, 1927 to the late Thomas Dan and Susie Melinda Anderson Welch.  Mrs. Mims was crowned Mrs. Westside Terrace in 2011 and enjoyed playing bingo and dominoes.

Mrs. Mims is preceded in death by a son, Winston R. Gaines; one grandchild; one great grandchild; a sister and four brothers.

Mrs. Mims is survived by two daughters, Joyce York, Midland City, Melinda Clements (Don), Dothan; three sons, Randall McDaniel (Diane), Slocomb, Bruce McDaniel, Blountstown, FL, Johnny McDaniel, Dothan; fifteen grandchildren; thirty great grandchildren and the father of her children, Max McDaniel.
