Mrs. Lena C. Helms Cain of Geneva passed away Friday, March 1, 2013.  She was 95.  Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 3, 2013 at Maple Avenue Baptist Church with Dr. Mike Shirah officiating.  Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Pittman Funeral Home of Geneva directing.  The family will receive friends at the church Sunday beginning at 2:00 p.m.  Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Maple Avenue Baptist Church Building Fund, 1009 W. Maple Ave., Geneva, AL, 36340.


 Mrs. Cain was born in Geneva County on December 29, 1917 to the late George W. and Lexie Ann Thurston Helms.  She was a charter member of Maple Avenue Baptist Church.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Farrell Cain; two sons, Jimmy Cain and George Cain; daughter, Gloria Hughes and all twelve of her siblings.  She was the last of her generation.


 She is survived by her daughter, Linda Cain Shelby (David) of Senoia, GA; seven grandchildren, David C. Shelby, III of Atlanta, Christopher Shelby of Senoia, GA, James L. Cain, Jr. of Camby, IN, Pam Calhoun of Geneva, George L. Cain, Jr. of Crestview, FL, Jonathan Cain of Chicago, IL, and Amy Cain of Atlanta; ten great grandchildren; son-in-law, Thomas Hughes of Greensboro, GA; daughter-in-law, Mary Cain of Blairsville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
