Obituary:  Mrs. Leota Rosendale Dobbs McGee


 


Mrs. Leota Rosendale Dobbs McGee of Slocomb passed away Friday, April 1, 2016. She was 96. 


Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 4, 2016 at Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Doug Shumate officiating and Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Slocomb directing. 


In lieu of flowers the family request that contributions be made to The Easter Seals,1010 Common Street, Suite 2440, New Orleans, LA 70112. 


Mrs. McGee was born December 24, 1919 in Ellis County, OK to the late Clarence and Lillian O. Peterson Rosendale. She attended grade school in Woodward Co. and graduated high school in Fargo, OK. Upon graduation she attended Northwestern Teachers College in Alva, OK. She married Mr. Heath Dobbs in August, 1939 and together they were blessed with two children, Rena and Jack. Leota worked various jobs throughout her life; she worked as a teacher, nurse’s aide, auditor at the Plantation Motel and Restaurant as well as for the Franklin Council on Aging and retired in 1995. Leota worked hard all of her life and enjoyed her garden and flowers. She will be dearly missed. 


In addition to her parents, her first husband and the father of her children, Heath Dobbs; daughter, Rena Fern Dobbs and her second husband, Mac McGee; three brothers and one sister all preceded her in death. 


Survivors include one son, Jack Dobbs (Debbie), Slocomb; seven grandchildren: Sheila Ann Dobbs, Jack Lee Dobbs, Kristina Marie Thompson (Scott), Jacquelyn Nicole Arcellana (Joel), John David Dobbs (Ashley) and Julie Lynn Dobbs; nine great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
