Loraine Brackin Harper, age 93, of Headland, passed away Friday, August 8, 2014.



Born January 1, 1921 in Geneva County, Alabama to the late Mancil and Lena Clark Brackin, Mrs. Harper was a longtime member of Lafayette Street Methodist Church and later Sylvan Grove Methodist Church. She was active in the Mary Sunday School Class at Lafayette Street and the Joyful Sunday School Class at Sylvan Grove Methodist Church. Mrs. Harper loved her family and vacationing at St. George Island, travelling and visiting lighthouses, fishing, reading, poetry, and doing crossword puzzles.



In addition to her parents, Mrs. Harper was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Edwin Harper; her son, Larry Joe Harper; her daughter, Patricia Ann Harper; her great-grandson, Chance Griffin; her sister, Mildred Clark; and her brother, Wilton Brackin.



Survivors include her daughter, Edwina Griffin (Wayne); her sons, Tommy Harper (Debby) and Craig Harper; her grandchildren, Cindy Harrison, Brad Griffin (Lisa), Laura Kinsaul (Rick), Kim Carawan (Robert), Jazmin Harper, Jared Harper, and Graham Harper; great-grandchildren, Emily Knapp (Curtis), Nicholas Lanoue, Reagan Whitehead, and Avaleigh Harper.



Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Monday, August 11, 2014 at Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jerry Dooling officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 PM until service time Monday, August 11, 2014.



Serving as pallbearers will be Nicholas Lanoue, Graham Harper, Reagan Whitehead, Jason McWhirter, Rick Kinsaul, Curtis Knapp, and Jon Steiner.



In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Covenant Hospice or Sylvan Grove Methodist Church.



The family would like to thank the staff and nurses at Covenant Hospice, especially Amy, Carla, Jessica, and Tasha.
