Mrs. Lucille A. White, a resident of Pansey, AL went home to be with the Lord, Monday, August 10, 2015. She was 102 years young.


  


Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at 3 PM at Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel in Dothan, AL with Reverend Terry Drinkwater officiating. Gene Exum and several family members will also speak. Burial will follow the service at Ramah Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Prior to the service the family will be at Mrs. White’s home place in Pansey, Alabama.


 


Mrs. White was born November 27, 1912 to the late Robert Lee and Mary Retta Strickland. She lived in the Ashford/Pansey community for the last 51 years. She did work outside of the home some, but she was mostly a wife, mother and grandmother and friend to all who knew her. She loved to fish (taught several of her grandchildren how to fish), garden, go to the Senior Citizen Center and visit and talk with her friends.


 


She was preceded in death by her husband/children’s father Harvey Pitts, Steve (Pa) Anglin, and John White; her children Mary Tindell, Louie M. Pitts, Martha Kelly, Gayle Pitts, and Etta Jo Pitts.


 


Survivors include Robert L. Pitts, James E. Pitts, and Brenda Faye Davis, all of Ashford; 10 grandchildren, John Tindel, Prescott, AZ, Diane Bradley, Midland City, AL, Marie Welch (Gary), Cottonwood, AL, Kathy Smith (Don), Rehobeth, AL, Ray Starling (Jo), Bristol, TN, Neal Starling (Julie), Canton, GA, Linda Brown, TN, Ronnie Pitts, TN, Michelle Author (Rob), Wilmington, NC, Randy Knight (Heather), Webb, AL; 18 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren and a special friend, Mrs. Nettie Lee, Ashford, AL.


 


Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons, Randy Knight, Ray Starling, Neal Starling, Christian Starling, Don Smith, Donny Smith, and Gary Welch.


 


The family would like to say a special thank you to Dr. Thomas Barkley, Dr. Kristy Johnson and all the nursing staff on 3 East and the ICU unit at Southeast Alabama Medical Center.
