Mrs. Martha Lou Reeves Creel, age 77, a resident of Dothan, died early Tuesday at the SAMC following an extended illness.


A private family graveside will be held Thursday morning at the Hartford City Cemetery.  Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday October 30, 2014 at First United Methodist Church in Dothan with Dr. James B. Sanders officiating and Kendall Glover directing. 


The family will be receiving friends in the First United Methodist Parlor following the services.  In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions be made to the In Christ Name Fund or the Rose Garden Fund at FUMC, 1380 W. Main St., Dothan, AL. 36301.


Mrs. Creel was born on July 23, 1937 in Jacksonville, Florida the daughter of James Edger Reeves and Gladys Childs Reeves.  She had lived in Dothan for over 60 years and was a 1956 Graduate of Dothan High School.  Mrs. Creel was a homemaker for most of her life but worked for over 10 years at the First National Bank of Dothan.  She was Miss Dothan in 1955; former National Peanut Festival recipe contest winner with her Peanut Butter Cake.  Mrs. Creel was a member of the First United Methodist Church. 


She was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Mark Creel and a brother, Jim (Bubba) Reeves.


Survivors include: husband of 58 years, Jerry J. Creel, Dothan; daughter, Debbie Tidwell (Phillip), Dothan; 2 sons, Cleve Creel (Sally), Dothan; Steve Creel, Dothan; a brother, Jerry Reeves (Patti), Dothan; 6 grandchildren, Ashley Tidwell, Anna Grace Tidwell, Lee Jacobs (David), Kelly Clayton (Matthew), Jason Creel (Amanda), and Adrian Flowers (Tate); 5 great-grandchildren, Taylor Jacobs, Cole Jacobs, Addison Clayton, Mary Grace Creel and Preston James Creel; several nieces, nephews, and cousins, Beloved Cocker Spanial “Little Bit” 


Pallbearers will be: Frank Reeves, Jimmy Reeves, David Jacobs, Jason Creel, Matt Clayton, and Tate Flowers.


Glover Funeral Home of Dothan has been entrusted with the arrangements.
