Mrs. Mary G. Daniels of Chicago, IL, formerly of Dothan passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2015.

Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. Thursday, December 3, 2015 at the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 P.M. Wednesday, December 2, 2015 and from 9 A.M. until service time on Thursday, December 3, 2015.

Our mom, Mary G. Daniels, was born in 1935 to Glen and Rose Lee Barr in Clio, Alabama. She had three brothers, John, Gene, Gwen, and one sister, Jeanette. Life required her to take over the running of the household at age 12 when her mom died. She dropped out of school in ninth grade to get married. She was an intelligent, hard worker who never stopped providing for the needs of her three children, Deborah, Ronald, and Beverly.

Her most enjoyable job was when she was manager over half the original Walmart store in Dothan. She was chosen as a store representative and went to Bentonville, Arkansas, where she met the founder and owner of the Walmart empire. She and other representatives dined at the home of the Waltons. She was most proud of the autographed book she received at the dinner.

She was a multitalented person who loved arts and crafts. Sewing clothes for her daughters and grandchildren made her very proud. She was awesome at crochet. She enjoyed any type of handiwork. Even with the adversities she had in her life she never gave up providing whatever was needed to keep her children in their preferred activities. She gave us all the ability to pursue our dreams.

Her grandchildren were the delights of her heart. Phillip, Brandy, Amy, and Jennifer.  She was blessed to have three great-grandchildren, Danielle, Arabella, and Annalia.

Mom was a strong believer in the Lord. She learned how to sing in the Sacred Harp style as a child. She was a Brownie Scout leader. She baked food for school parties for her children.

She never gave up. She taught us that we could accomplish anything through a right relationship with God and prayer.

What we remember most about Moma is her hands. They never stopped moving, working to accomplish the tasks she had to do for her family.

Mary was preceded in death by her former husband, Lawrence Daniels; her son, Ronald Daniels; her granddaughter, Jennifer Madison; her parents, Glenn and Rose Lee Barr; her step-mother, Maudel; and her brothers, John Barr, Gene Barr, and Gwen Barr.

Mary is survived by her daughters, Deborah Hudson and Beverly Madison; her grandchildren, Phillip and Amy Hudson and Brandy Madison; her great-grandchildren, Danielle, Bella, and Anna Hudson; her sister, Jeanette Sablon; numerous other family members and friends.

We miss you already Moma. We know you are safe in the arms of Jesus. We will see you again when Jesus calls us home.
