Mrs. Mary Lou Batchelor Huggins of Geneva, Alabama went home to be with her Lord and Savior Friday, July 18, 2014, at Wiregrass Nursing Home with her children by her side.


Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 20, 2014, in the Poplar Head Methodist Church in Holmes County with Rev. Jimmy Mashburn officiating.  Mrs. Huggins will be placed into the church one hour prior to service time.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home and Crematory of Geneva directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday, July 19, 2014, from 5 until 7 p.m.


Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Poplar Head Methodist Church.


Mrs. Huggins was born January 12, 1926, in Geneva County, Alabama to the late Walter S. and Lilla M. Lawrence Batchelor.  She was a lifelong resident of Geneva and after 33 years of service retired from Phillips Van Heusen.  Mrs. Huggins loved her family unconditionally and worked very hard to care for them.  For more than 50 years, she was a very devoted member of Poplar Head Methodist Church.


In addition to her parents her beloved son, Douglas Wayne Huggins, her father and mother-in-law, Horace and Pearl Huggins, as well as three brothers and four sisters all preceded her in death.


Survivors include her children, Jimmy Huggins (Lynn), Dennis Huggins (Judy), all of Geneva and Nina Lisenby (Bill) of Dothan; special daughter-in-law, Ann McClenny of Geneva; five grandchildren: Chad Lisenby (Summer), Clark Lisenby, Tadd Huggins, Haley Huggins and Mary Loren McKnight (Chad); five great-grandchildren: William and Tucker Lisenby, Brigham and Baylor McKnight, and Sarah Ashley Huggins; two sisters: Lorraine Fennell of Pensacola, FL and Lula Mae Infinger of Geneva; other extended family and friends.


The family would like to say a very special thank you to the staff at Wiregrass Nursing Home and Wiregrass Medical Center for the loving care and compassion that was extended to their Mother.
