Mrs. Shirley Faye Pennington Sorrells, age 71, of Dothan passed away Friday, May 15, 2015.
Born December 13, 1943 in Houston County to the late Lloyd Lee Pennington and Christine Elmore Dickerson, Mrs. Sorrells was a member of Harper’s Joy Assembly of God Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, and was well known for her cooking.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Melvin Jones Sorrells; her daughter, Pamela Faye Hamilton; her sons, David Jones Sorrells and Michael Lee (Chrystal) Sorrells; her brother, Danny Ray Dickerson; her grandchildren, Kristy Jones, Joshua Sorrells, Gabrielle Brianna Tyre, Parker Sorrells, and River Sorrells; her great-granddaughter, Rosabelle Tyre; a special friend, Virginia Wells Crooms; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM, Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Harper’s Joy Assembly of God Church with Reverend Eddie Littlefield officiating. Burial will follow in Cottonwood City Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 6 PM until 8 PM, Monday, May 18, 2015 at Ward Wilson Funeral Home.
The family will be accepting flowers or contributions may be made to Harper’s Joy Assembly of God Church.
