Obituary:  Mrs. Velma Mae “Granny” Bradshaw


 


Mrs. Velma Mae “Granny” Bradshaw of Slocomb passed away Friday, January 18, 2013 at Hartford Health Care.  She was 99.


 


Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 21, in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Byrd officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing.  Mrs. Bradshaw will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time.  Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1149, Slocomb, AL 36375 or to Hartford Health Care, 217 Toro Road, Hartford, AL  36344.


 


The family will receive friends at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church on Sunday from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m.


 


Mrs. Bradshaw was born on January 31, 1913 in Geneva County to the late Henry Taylor and Mary Childs Blount.  She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.


 


She was preceded in death by her husband, Dan Bradshaw, her parents and several brothers and sisters. 


 


Survivors include one daughter:  Louise Speigner (Steven) of Dothan; two sons:  Royce Bradshaw (Carolyn) of Hartford and Doyle Bradshaw (Cindy) of Newton; seven grandchildren:  Pam Hendrix, Galen Bradshaw, Mark Bradshaw, Delora Hughes, Wesley Bradshaw, Tyler Bradshaw and Chris Speigner; five great grandchildren;  several nieces and nephews and other extended family and friends.
