Mrs. Virginia Rose Lee Smith of Dothan went to be with her Lord on Monday, August 8, 2016.  She was 92. 


Funeral services will be held at Ward Wilson Chapel on Thursday, August 11 at 2 pm with Reverend Steve Trail officiating. A graveside service will be held at the Rock Springs Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery in Rock Springs, Tennessee on Saturday, August 13 at 10:30 am with Reverend Glen Poston officiating. Interment will follow with Dickson Funeral Home directing.   


The family will receive friends in the chapel of Ward Wilson on Wednesday, August 10 from 4 until 7 pm. 


Mrs. Smith was born on March 15, 1924 in Cheatham County, TN and resided there with her husband until 1987.  She was a faithful member of Rock Springs Free Will Baptist Church where she enjoyed teaching Sunday School and working with children in CTS.  She was the church clerk for many years and also served as the clerk of the Western Quarterly Conference. She worked at First National Bank in Clarksville, TN for 3 years and retired from ACME Boot Company in Clarksville, TN after 34 years of employment as the payroll clerk.  She moved to Dothan in 1987 at which time she became an active member of First Free Will Baptist Church, Clover Garden Club and for 17 years enjoyed being a senior volunteer at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. 


She is preceded in death by her parents Clarence “Bud” and Nell Justice Lee, her husband James Thomas Smith, her brother and his wife C. Bailey and Ramona Lee and her son-in-law James Terry Seymour.


Survivors include daughter Lynn Smith Seymour, granddaughter Jennifer Seymour Tompkins (Kelvin) and great-grandchildren Jack and Sara Katherine Tompkins, all of Dothan; a step great grandson Jeremy Borden of Mobile; cousins Doris and Wylodine Johnson, niece Judy Douglas (Gary) and nephew David Lee (Pam).


In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First Free Will Baptist Church Building Fund or Music Ministry (1461 Timbers Dr. Dothan, AL 36301).
