Obituary: Mrs. Vivian Motley

Mrs. Vivian Motley of Westville Florida passed away Sunday, February 15, 2015 at her residence surrounded by family. She was 99. Her last words Sunday morning were “ God come and get me” and ten minutes later she passed away.

Funeral Services will be at 2:00pm on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at the Open Pond United Pentecostal Church with Reverend Wayne Brannon and Reverend Steve Connell officiating. Burial will follow in the Campground Cemetery in Westville, Florida.  The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday beginning at 1:00pm and continuing until service time.

Vivian Cullifer Motley was born  January 25, 1916 in Holmes County to Burney and Elmira Powell Clemmons. In addition to her parents, one daughter, Elaine Holmes as well as her husbands, Talmer Cullifer and J.B. Motley all preceded her in death. Vivian’s mother passed away when she was five years old at which point her loving grandparents Della and Rance Powell raised her.

Mrs. Motley was a member of Open Pond United Pentacostal church for 60 plus years and was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother.  She was a person who lived for God and was faithful to her family and most of all to her God. She always looked for the good in people and would only get upset when someone hurt her children or grandchildren. She also retired for Van Hueson shirt factory after 35 years of service. She relied heavily on prayer and prayed for everyone. She enjoyed all the family get togethers and cooking with the girls as often as she could.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Ellis Cullifer (Marie), Geneva; one daughter, Dorothy Gibson, Westville, FL; nine grandchildren: Norman Cullifer (Donna), Stanley Cullifer (Diane), Angie Cullifer Lewis (Tim), Stevie Cullifer (Jane), Shelia Clark (Carlos), Phillip Holmes, Gregory Holmes (Lydia), Lisa Denning (Walter), Paul Holmes (Lori); twelve great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren as well as numerous special cousins, extended family, and a host of friends.
