Patricia Angelin (Angie) Herring was called home in the arms of her loving Savior and Lord at approximately 1:21 PM Saturday, August 29, 2015. Her loving family was by her side.


Graveisde services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 2, 2015, at New Harmony Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery in Cottonwood. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home prior to the service. Flowers are accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Houston County Humane Society.


Angie was born March 16, 1945 to her late parents, Woodrow W. and Othell Danford Herring, Sr. in Dothan, Alabama. She resided most of her young life in cottonwood, Alabama. She was a graduate of Cottonwood High School in 1963 and attended Troy State University to receive her Bachelor Degree in Business Education. Following a short career in teaching she began a new career in Medical Records Administration at West Paces and Saint Joseph’s Hospitals in Atlanta, Georgia. Angie received the award of one of the Top Ten Medical Transcribers of the State of Georgia. She did retire from her medical career in 2007. The following year she returned back to her childhood home to take care of her mother who was suffering from Alzheimer Disease.


Angie was a dear and loving daughter, sister, aunt and friend to all. Her heart was so full of love and she touched many lives with her tenderness and care. She would come to the aid of all those she felt were in need. Angie was also an animal advocate. She would shelter stray animals and find them homes. She considered her life was a gift so she spent most of her life giving love to others. Her smile and tender touch will be missed by her loving family and friends.


Survivors include a special uncle and aunt, Robert Earl and Ann Danford, Dothan; sister, Phyllis and Brent Jenkins, Dothan; brothers, Woodrow W. Herring, Jr, Cottonwood, Ronnie and Belinda Herring, Dothan, Phillip and Diane Herring, Cottonwood; niece, Michelle and Jason Wells, Colquitt; nephews, Woody and Cindy Herring, Jasper, Ron and Jennifer Herring, Dothan, Randy and Dea Herring, Cottonwood, Ricky and Andrea Herring, Dothan, Brent and Joy Herring, Cottonwood; very special friend, Sue and Jim Allen, Atlanta; several loving great nieces, nephews and cousins.
