Dorothy Jean "Dot" Kinlaw, a resident of Dothan, passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2015. She was 85 years old.

Dot was born August 10, 1930 in Houston County to the late Lewis and Tessie McCord. She was a graduate of Cottonwood High School. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, the Welcome Sunday School Class, and the Never Grow Old senior adult ministry. Dot worked with G.T.E. phone service as an operator and trainer for 35 years before she retired to care for her mother. She will be remembered as a caring and loving mother, Nanny, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six siblings: Ralph McCord, Christine Glass, Mildred Lewis, Raymond "Pete" McCord, Randall "Red" McCord, and Billy McCord.

Dot is survived by her daughter and son-in law, Cindy & Glen Elmore of Ashford; one grandson, Nick Elmore of Dothan and his fiancé', Melanie Howell; one great-granddaughter, Raegan Elmore; two brothers, Rudy (Peggy) McCord and Jimmy (Judy) McCord of Dothan; two sisters, Martha Arnett of Columbia and Sadie (Gary) Peeples of Meridian, MS.; two sisters-in-law, Merle McCord of Cottonwood and Leneve McCord of Ashford; many nieces & nephews that she loved dearly and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 24, 2015 at Bethel Baptist Church with Reverend. Ricky Plummer officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at Bethel Baptist church. Burial will follow at the Memphis Baptist Church cemetery with Southern Heritage Funeral Home directing.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethel Baptist Church Building Fund, 3257 East Cottonwood Road, Dothan, AL 36301 or the American Cancer Society, 2346 West Main Street Suite 3, Dothan, AL 36301.
