Obituary: Ms. Miriam "Mivie" Simmons

Ms. Miriam "Mivie" Simmons passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2014. She was 69. 


Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Friday, November 7, at Friendship Assembly of God Church with Rev. Clarence Watson officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Slocomb directing. 


The family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 2:00 pm until service time. 


Ms. Simmons was born November 15, 1944 in Geneva County to the late John and Nell Harris Simmons. Mivie possessed a servants heart and enjoyed giving to others. She was a devoted Christian, a member of Friendship Assembly of God Church and was a loving mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed. 


In addition to her parents, her daughter, Alice Leger, sister, Dean S. Riley, six brothers: Gene, Fonza, Delma, Gerald, Johnnie and Russell Simmons all preceded her in death. 


Survivors include daughter, Lisa Lucente (Michael), Madison, AL; two sons: Ray Leger (Sheila), Laurel, MS and Ben Leger (Terry), Mobile, AL; twelve grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one brother, Jerry Simmons (Betti); six sisters: Sue Hutto (David),  Christine Faulk (Joe), Sherrell Russell, Virginia Buttram, Gayle Davis and Pat Cobb; one sister-in-law, Net Simmons; several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
