Myra Bell


Myra Bell of Henderson, Texas, formerly of Dothan, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, July 1, 2014. She was 97.


Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 6, 2014 at Byrd Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Fulton and Pastor Eddie Colley officiating. Burial will follow at Dothan City Cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time on Sunday.


Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Providence Baptist Church, 204 Crosby Drive, Henderson, TX 75652.


Myra was born June 23, 1917 in Dothan, Alabama to her parents Lula and John Alex Tew. She married Joseph Bell on July 30, 1939. For the next 66 years Joe and Myra served the Lord in a number of Baptist churches in Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi and Tennessee. In addition, they spent two years in Jamaica and eleven years in Puerto Rico. She was a devoted mother, homemaker and Pastor’s wife. Myra touched many lives in a special way.


She was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Rodney and her husband of 66 years, Joe Bell.


Survivors include her son, Phillip Bell and wife, Lisa, of Colleyville, Texas; her daughter, Sara Fulton and husband, Steve, of Henderson, Texas; and her granddaughter, Rachel Savage and husband, Jacob, of Durham, North Carolina.
