Naaman Drexel Ivey, of Clio, died Friday, March 3, 2017 surrounded by his loving wife and daughter. He was 73.


 


Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 6, 2017 at Elamville Assembly of God Church on Highway 51 with Rev. Kenneth Earles officiating. His nephew, Philip Paramore and his daughter, Amanda will share in the service. Mr. Ivey will lie in state from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Monday at the church. Burial will follow in Ariton Cemetery on Highway 51, with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends in the Earl Bankston Memorial Chapel in Ozark, Alabama from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 on Sunday. The family will be accepting flowers.


 


Mr. Ivey was born November 25, 1943 in Barbour County and lived all of his life there. He was a graduate of Barbour County High School and attended several mechanic schools throughout his working career. He worked alongside his parents at Ivey Tractor Company for 27 years. He could talk about Oliver Tractors and Studebakers all day long. He never met an Oliver Tractor that he didn’t love, especially an Oliver 550!


 


Mr. Ivey later managed the Solid Waste Authority in Barbour County for several years. He was also engaged in peanut farming and cattle farming and had a love for Canada geese. He was a member of Elamville Assembly of God Church where he served as a deacon and will be remembered as a man of strong faith and courage.


 


Mr. Ivey is predeceased by his father, Ralphael Ivey and his in-laws, Lewie and Wylleen Tyler and two brothers-in-law, Charles Brock and Harold Smith.


 


Survivors include his wife, Audrey T. Ivey, his daughter, Amanda W. Ivey; his mother, Nell G. Ivey; three sisters, Jeanette Smith, Reba Brock and Jane Langford (Kenneth), all of Clio; a sister-in-law, Trena Paramore of Ariton; several nieces and nephews also survive.


 


Serving as active pallbearers will be Paul Garner, Steve Price, Dylan Teal, Gary Walker, Trey Evans and Vic Coker.


 


Serving as honorary pallbearers will be family and friends.
