NORMA  COPELAND  COMBS



HEADLAND. . .Norma Copeland Combs, a former resident of Headland, died Friday night, November 23, 2012, in the Henry County Health & Rehabilitation Facility in Abbeville. She was 88.


            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, November 26, 2012, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Pastor James A. Rich officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Center United Methodist Church Cemetery, near Newville. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Monday at the mortuary.


            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Alabama School for the Blind, P.O. Box 698, Talladega, AL 35160 or to Covenant Hospice, 104 Rock Bridge Road, Dothan, AL 36303.


            Mrs. Combs was born and reared in Argyle, New York, daughter of the late David Edward Copeland and Sarah Lillis Clark Copeland. She lived in Argyle most of her lifetime and also lived in St. Petersburg, FL and the Center community of Henry County before moving to Headland in 1980. Mrs. Combs was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Glen Falls, New York and attended Concord Baptist Church, near Newville. She retired as Head Teller at Argyle National Bank in Argyle, New York. While a resident of St. Petersburg, Mrs. Combs was employed by American National Bank. Upon moving to Headland, she worked with Wiregrass Bank & Trust Co. and Southland Bank. Mrs. Combs was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson Ray Combs and a sister, Roseann Scott.


            Surviving relatives include a daughter, Charlene Combs Riley and husband, Danny, Newville; two sisters, Gertrude Paller, Massena, NY; and Davine Hermens, Queensbury, NY; three grandchildren, Daniel P. Riley (Angie), David Riley (Mary), Kelly Reaves (Taylor); six great-grandchildren, Alyssa Riley, Brooke Riley, Rhyan Riley, Brianna Riley, Jordan Reaves and Jackson Reaves.


            Serving as active pallbearers will be Daniel P. Riley, David M. Riley, Rhyan Riley, Taylor Reaves, Jackson Reaves, Dusty Trawick, and Mike Riley.
