OBITUARY FROM HOLMAN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATIONS OF OZARK   ~   334‑774‑5348


Mr. Cecil Cowart Batchelor, 97, of Ariton, died Tuesday, November 18, 2014, at his home.


Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Thursday, November 20, 2014, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home and Cremations in Ozark with Reverend Randy Adams officiating. Interment will follow with Full Military Honors in Ariton Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ozark Thursday from 12:00 Noon until service time.


Mr. Batchelor was born January 2, 1917 in Dale County, Alabama to the late Jesse James Batchelor and Doxie Jones Batchelor. He served in the Army Air Corp during World War II and then joined the United States Air Force where he served for twenty-two years until his retirement in 1967.  He then returned to Ariton where he enjoyed working on the farm and gardening.  He was of the Assembly of God Faith.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Batchelor was preceded in death by two grandsons, Jeff Michael Batchelor and Jesse John Anderson.


Survivors include his wife, Miriam Paulk Batchelor of Ariton;  two daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Jerry Byrd of Ariton, Barbara and Johnny Anderson of Ozark;  two sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffrey and Carolyn Batchelor of Ariton, Jake and Dixieann Batchelor of Ariton;  eleven grandchildren, Carla and Jimmy Sammons of Dothan, Robbie and Ami Batchelor of Ozark, Malissa Batchelor of Texarkana, TX, Anthony Batchelor of Tampa, FL, Michelle and Joe Ridgeway of Hoschton, GA, Brian and Kendra Byrd of Ariton, Steven Byrd of Ariton, Joshua Anderson of Ozark, Jonathan and Ashley Batchelor of Germany, Casey Franklin and Ashley Franklin of Luverne.


Fourteen great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren also survive.
