He was born February 14, 1948 in Sheffield, Alabama to Harold and Damie Beaver Green. Doug was adopted at age 8 by Herbert Neal Riddle Sr. after Herb married Doug’s Mother.

Doug attended Old Shades Valley High School in Birmingham, Alabama and then spent 6 years in the US Army Medical Corp, serving both in Vietnam and in Germany, receiving an honorable discharge at the end of his service. When he returned to the States, he majored in Journalism at the University of Florida in Gainesville.

He married Kay Whitlock Ingley while attending the School of Diagnostic Echocardiography at Shands Hospital Gainesville. He then founded and remained owner for over 20 years of Diagnostic Ultrasound, Inc. located in Bradenton, Florida, establishing multiple technician routes of physician services throughout the West coast of Florida.

Following 911, Doug organized and led a cross-country motorcycle ride, coordinating stops for ceremonies in numerous cities to honor the victims of the tragedy.

Doug was an entrepreneur at heart and always enjoyed "the art of the deal." He was an avid fisherman, hauling his boat to St. Augustine and the Florida Everglades to fish with long time friends. He definitely "knew his way around a kitchen" and loved to play chef while sipping his current favorite wine. He and his wife, Kay enjoyed antiquing, sharing books, planting gardens, dining out and spending loving times with family and friends.

He knew the Lord intimately and felt His presence and comfort in a mighty way during  the course of his illness. A funeral Mass will be held at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Gainesville, Florida (specific date and time to be determined) along with interment of ashes on the church grounds.

Doug is preceded in death by his Father, Herb and his Mother, Damie and younger brother Neal Riddle Jr. He is survived by his wife, Kay; his step-son, Bert Ingley and wife, Teresa; four beloved grandchildren, Donovan 15, Deven 13, Alaina 10, and Dayton 8 along with his Aunt Mary and numerous cousins.

If desired, donations can be made in his memory (and in thanks for the excellent care he received) to:
