Funeral services will be 3:30 P. M. Sunday, July 6, 2014, from Rocky Head Baptist Church with Reverend Bill Weed and  Reverend Joe Underwood officiating, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Greg will be laid to rest in the Jacobs’ family burial plot in Mt. Olive Cemetery, in the Rocky Head Community near Ariton, Alabama.   The family will receive friends at the church Sunday from 2:00 P. M. until service time and following the interment.

Greg was born August 5, 1965, grew up in Miami, FL and attended Muller Christian Academy, Florida Christian School, Sunset Senior High School and did special studies at ACE Academy, Robert Morgan Educational Center and Briarcliff College.  The eldest son of Franklin M. and Maxine E. Jacobs of Ariton, Alabama, Gregory is also survived by his son Kyle M. Jacobs, of Boca Raton, FL, and his brother, Bradley E. Jacobs, MD,  and family: Rebecca, Nathan and Miriam of Winston Salem, NC. He left behind numerous special friends and extended family members who loved Greg and cherished his friendship.

Greg’s life work was reaching out to the hungry and homeless in the south Florida community. He served for seventeen years as the Industrial Director of Miami Rescue Mission, Inc. He re-instituted the work of Miami City Mission, Inc., and served as Executive Director for twelve years. Greg was the founder of a homeless outreach ministry in Palm Beach County; the Palm Beach County Rescue Mission, at First Baptist Church, Rivera Beach, Fl. Greg worked with The Veteran Support Outreach assisting homeless veterans in finding work, services and housing. Most recently he worked in property management, providing affordable housing for families.  Greg served on the founding board of the Association of Christian Thrift Stores, a national membership organization with the Association of Gospel Rescue Missions. Gregory held the commission of Colonel in the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonel.  He was a member of Boca Raton Community Church, and enjoyed the worship and the strong biblical teaching and preaching.  Greg loved the ocean, boating and fishing. His love for mechanics, cars and trucks is legend.  Greg was a big man, with a big heart. To know Greg, was to love him. Family was at the core of his person. He had a strong sense of heritage and loved his “sweet home Alabama”.

The family suggests that memorial donations be made to Christian ministries that help people in need.
