OBITUARY FROM HOLMAN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATIONS OF OZARK, AL   ~   334‑774‑5348


Mr. Jesse Dowling Adams of Attalla, Alabama, formerly of Ozark, died Thursday, July 9, 2015, at his home. He was 73 years old.  Funeral services will be 3:00 P. M. Sunday, July 12, 2015, from the First United Methodist Church of Ozark with Reverend Mike Sigler, Reverend Dr. Billy D. Gaither, Reverend Terriel Andrews, and Mr. Don McCall officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Memorial Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home and Cremations of Ozark directing.  The family will receive friends Sunday in the Church from 1:30 P. M. until service time.  


Mr. Adams was born October 17, 1941 in Ozark, Alabama to the late John Quincy Adams, Jr. and Elizabeth Holman Adams.  He graduated from Carroll High School in 1960, and was a graduate of Southern Institute of Graphic Arts in Nashville.  Mr. Adams returned to Ozark and worked with the Southern Star Newspaper, which is the family business.  He and his wife started their business Message on Hold in 1992, and it is still in operation today.  Mr. Adams was a member of Crosspoint Community Baptist Church in Gadsden.  He served on The Industrial Board of Etowah County and was active in the Attalla Merchants Association.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Adams was preceded in death by his brother, James Clinton Adams.


Mr. Adams is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ann Norris Adams of Attalla; two daughters and one son-in-law, Ellen Adams Russell (Alan) and Amanda Adams Dalton, all of Homewood, Alabama; four grandchildren, Mindi Mullins Perlis, Maye Alexandra Dalton, Carli Addison Dalton, and Pierce Thomas Dalton; two great grandchildren, Luke Edward Perlis and Benjamin Henry Perlis; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Joseph H. Adams (Dot) of Ozark, John Quincy Adams, III (Gloria) of Thomasville, Alabama. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
