OBITUARY FROM HOLMAN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATIONS OF OZARK   ~   334‑774‑5348


Mr. Rex Douglas Andrews, 77, of Ozark, passed away Friday, July 31, 2015.


A memorial service for Mr. Andrews will be held at 3:00 P. M. Saturday, August 8, 2015, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home and Cremations in Ozark with Reverend Kenneth Andrews officiating, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time Saturday.


Mr. Andrews was born in Ozark, Alabama on October 13, 1937, and was the son of the late Porter Wyatt Andrews and Annie Myrle Peters Andrews.  He spent most of his life in Ozark. At the time of his death, he was employed by Andrews Mail Service.  Mr. Andrews was a champion domino player and enjoyed playing with his friends in Ozark.  In early July, he was able to compete at the World Domino Championship in Andalusia. In 2004 he and his domino partner won the double’s championship at that tournament. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Eloise Ware and Nell Valentine; four brothers, Harold, Jimmy, Johnny and Jackie Andrews.


Mr. Andrews is survived by his children: Sharon Eggert of Robertsdale, AL, Shannon (Roger) Sligar of Duluth, GA, and Charles Rex Andrews of Houston, TX; his brothers, Bobby Andrews, Kenneth (Evelyn) Andrews, and Donnie (Patty) Andrews; his sisters, Louise Etheridge, Betty Wendling, and Faye (Billy) Blackmon; sister-in-law, Barbara Andrews.  His memory will be cherished by his grandchildren, Tiffani (Bryan) Stricklin, James (Kristin) Little, Philip Sligar, and Evan Sligar.  He is also survived by two great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  Mr. Andrews was blessed to have spent the last 20 years with his dear companion, Evelyn Moore.  She and her family treated him as one of their own and he enjoyed the time he shared with them.
