OBITUARY FROM HOLMAN FUNERAL HOME OF OZARK

Mrs. Geraldine Snellgrove Byrd, age 86, died on Saturday morning, May 21, 2016.

Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m.  Monday, May 23, 2016,  at Ridgecrest Baptist Church with Reverend Jim Hill officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens, Holman Funeral Home and Cremations of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at Ridgecrest Baptist Church Monday afternoon from 2:00 p.m. until service time.

Mrs. Byrd was born August 13, 1929 in Ozark to the late Lewie Frank Snellgrove and Minnie Gladys Wynn Snellgrove. She was a charter member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church joining in 1959. Since becoming a member, she served as Ridegcrest’s church historian. She was involved and very active serving in many church ministries such as teaching and serving on committees. She was an avid Auburn fan and member of the Dale County Auburn Club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Mixson Byrd; her daughter, Susan Paige Byrd; and a brother, Don Snellgrove.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Sherry Byrd of Ozark; two grandchildren, Dustin (Jennifer) of Dothan and Natalie (Blake) of Madison, Alabama; three great grandchildren, Rosemary Byrd and John Martin Byrd of Dothan; Charlotte Lane of Madison, Alabama.
