OBITUARY FROM HOLMAN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATIONS OF OZARK   ~   334‑774‑5348

Mrs. Gwendolyn Stephens “Gwen” Chancey, 75, of Dothan, died Tuesday, February 3, 2015, at her home.

Funeral services will be 2:30 P. M. Friday, February 6, 2015, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home and Cremations in Ozark with William M. Sullivan, Jr. officiating.  A private family interment will follow in Pleasant Ridge United Methodist Church Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 1:00 P.M. until service time.

Mrs. Chancey was born July 13, 1939 in Dale County, Alabama to the late Randolph Randall Stephens and Laura Flora Wilson Stephens.  She graduated from Ariton High School in 1957 and married Purnell Chancey on June 1, 1958.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Joyce Ward; four brothers, Tommy Stephens, Glynn Stephens, Jerry Stephens, and Billy Stephens.

Survivors include her loving husband of  57  years, Purnell Chancey of Dothan;  two sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Judi Chancey of Ozark, Scott and Marilyn Chancey of Dothan;  three great grandchildren, Jacie Donohoo, Clay Horne and Kayla Horne all of Ozark; one great-great grandchild, Cayden Michael Donohoo; and one brother, Bobby Stephens of Montgomery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pleasant Ridge United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, C/O Mrs. Marie Agerton,  1727 County Road 2, Ariton, Alabama  36311; or to the American Cancer Society, 3054 McGehee Road, Montgomery, Alabama  36111.
