OBITUARY FROM HOLMAN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATIONS OF OZARK   ~   334‑774‑5348


Mrs. Rose Evelyn Jones Kerby, age 86, of Newton, died Tuesday, November 17, 2015, in Westside Terrace, Dothan, Alabama.


Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, November 20, 2015, in Newton Baptist Church with Reverend Benjamin Johnson and Reverend Woody Farrington officiating.   Interment will follow in Newton City Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home and Cremations of Ozark directing.  The family will receive friends at the church Friday morning from 9:30 A. M. until service time.


Mrs. Kerby was born July 19, 1929 in Newville, Alabama to the late Samuel Jones and Rosa Taylor Jones.  She worked with Troy University in Dothan for fourteen years until her retirement. Mrs. Kerby faithfully supported her husband as the wife of a minister in each church he pastored. She was always complemented on her beautiful smile.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Lillian Wilkes, Jeanette Jones, and Mary Cunningham; four brothers, Lydman Jones, Benny Jones, Marvin Jones, and John Jones.


Survivors include her husband, Charles Theo Kerby of Newton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Keef Pettis of Eufaula, Dawn and Mark Knotts of Troy; one son, David Kerby of Dothan; one brother and sister-in-law, Ovie and Luvonne Jones of Headland; sister-in-law, Martha Jones of Dothan;  four grandchildren, Steven Boydstun, Lauren Boydstun, Ragan Knotts, and  Ridge Knotts.


Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Newton Baptist Church Building Fund, P. O. Box 97, Newton, Alabama  36352.
